Check the sender’s full email address, inspect links carefully, watch for urgent threats, and be cautious of unexpected requests for passwords, PINs, OTPs, or payment information.
1. How to Recognize a Phishing Email
Fraudsters may impersonate Salary@Sea, Payroll teams, or MyPaymentVault support to make fraudulent messages appear legitimate.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Suspicious sender address: The email address may contain misspellings, unusual domains, or slight variations of a legitimate address.
- Urgent threats: Messages may claim that your account will be suspended or your salary payment delayed unless you act immediately.
- Unverified links: Links may lead to fake login pages designed to collect your account details.
- Requests for confidential information: Unexpected requests for passwords, PINs, OTPs, or security-question answers should be treated with caution.
- Unexpected attachments: Files may contain malicious software or lead to fraudulent websites.
Important: A company logo, professional email layout, or HTTPS connection does not guarantee that a message or website is legitimate.
