3. Identifying Fake Emails

Check the sender’s full email address, inspect links carefully, watch for urgent threats, and be cautious of unexpected requests for passwords, PINs, OTPs, or payment information.

1. How to Recognize a Phishing Email

Fraudsters may impersonate Salary@Sea, Payroll teams, or MyPaymentVault support to make fraudulent messages appear legitimate.

Watch for these warning signs:

  • Suspicious sender address: The email address may contain misspellings, unusual domains, or slight variations of a legitimate address.
  • Urgent threats: Messages may claim that your account will be suspended or your salary payment delayed unless you act immediately.
  • Unverified links: Links may lead to fake login pages designed to collect your account details.
  • Requests for confidential information: Unexpected requests for passwords, PINs, OTPs, or security-question answers should be treated with caution.
  • Unexpected attachments: Files may contain malicious software or lead to fraudulent websites.

Important: A company logo, professional email layout, or HTTPS connection does not guarantee that a message or website is legitimate.
